Meet the Team:
 
Melanie Burfitt - Chairman 

Melanie Burfitt is a professional charity manager and has recently held posts as Chief Executive of wish granting and cancer charities.  

Melanie was previously in marketing and fundraising and spent several years as a corporate fundraiser for the NSPCC (National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children).

She has been a trustee of the Triangle
Trust 1949 Fund since 1999 and Chairman
since 2003.


Dr. Rob Hale - Trustee
 
bullet Consultant - Psychiatrist and Psychoanalyst Tavistock and Portman Clinics
bullet Formerly Director, Portman Clinic and Dean of Postgraduate Studies Tavistock Clinic.

Currently involved in consultation to Medium and High Security Psychiatric Hospitals.

He has been been a trustee of the Triangle Trust 1949 Fund since 2005.


Kate Purcell - Trustee

Kate Purcell is a senior communications professional with more than 25 years experience working in both in consultancy and for companies. She has been engaged with many industry sectors including travel and leisure, fast moving consumer goods, IT and healthcare. She currently is responsible for communications for a global medical devices company.  She has been a trustee of the Triangle Trust 1949 Fund since early 2007.  
 


Mark Powell – Vice Chairman

Mark Powell is a Partner at Hugh James Solicitors with offices in Merthyr, Cardiff and London. 

He has been a Solicitor since 1977, a Member of the Law Society’s Children Panel since 1986 and of the Mental Health Panel since 1991. 

Mark was made Queen’s Counsel in 2006. 

He sits as a Recorder on the Wales and Chester Circuit and deals with amongst other things both Private and Public Law cases. 

Mark is also a Trustee of Tros Gynnal and the Triangle Trust.


Bruce Newbigging - Trustee

Bruce has been on the Board of Trustees for the Triangle Trust 1949 Fund since June 2005.

He has been the Managing Director at Rathbone Trust Company Ltd., since 2002 where he is responsible for the management and overall co-ordination of Trust Services to Rathbone clients with a total of 233 staff.

Prime focus, family office wealth management and tax planning, including a significant number of charitable trust funds.

He has been involved with various roles in merchant banking and investment since 1977 including MD of SG Hambos and Deputy MD of the London Private Bank.

He has been a Board Director and member of the Audit Committee of Falcon Property Trust since 1994.


Jamie Dicks – Trustee 

Jamie Dicks has been extensively involved in teacher education at a national, regional and local level since 1990. She specialises in training teachers to work with newly arrived refugees and immigrants within the field of ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages).  Having retired from her full-time commitments in 2007, she continues to contribute to the field as an adjudicator, lecturer and adviser. She previously worked as a lecturer in the USA, France and Germany.  She has been a trustee of the Triangle Trust since April 2008.

Helen Moss – Trustee

Helen has wide-ranging experience of the business community, voluntary sector and local government.   She served as Head of the Grants & Arts Unit at Westminster City Council, managing the local authority’s grants to voluntary and arts organisations, prior to moving to  Bristol in 1991, as Regional Manager for Action Resource Centre (later part of Business in the Community), developing employee community involvement in the south west.  

From 1996 to 2008 she was Director of Quartet Community Foundation, one of the first and most successful community foundations in the UK, managing and distributing charitable funds on behalf of individuals, companies, charitable trusts and statutory bodies to meet the needs of people living in the West of England.  She was awarded the OBE in 2008 for her services to the community foundation.

Since her retirement, Helen has continued her involvement in the voluntary sector as Trustee of a number of local and national charities.

Lesley Lilley - Secretary

1980 – 1990 worked as administrator and budget-co-coordinator for a well known Brewery in personnel, marketing, buying and sponsorship.

1990 – 2002 worked as a budget-co-coordinator, administrator and supervisor for a large Insurance and Finance company based in the City in the IT and pension and benefits department.

She became secretary to the Trustees in 2005. She has been involved in number of local voluntary projects including setting up a Credit Union.
